San Diego – the La Cusma apartments building is nearing completion in Little Italy on the Northeast corner of Columbia Street and Fir Street, one block west of I-5. The architect for the project is Carrier Johnson and the developer is “Columbia Street, LLC.” The six story building will have 40 one and two bedroom apartments, and 40 underground parking spaces. In contrast to the modern styled rendering, construction reveals more ornamental Italianate styling. The location is approximately one block from most major Little Italy amenities, including India Street, Washington Elementary School, Amici Park (including its Bocce Ball courts!), and Our Lady of the Rosary Italian National Catholic Parish. It also appears that many of the units will have a view of the Harbor.
