Was this intended or foreseen by the public when the park was approved or built? Doubtful. The renderings used to gain public support in 1998 showed a much more ample park. Then after voter approval, subsequent plans showed a smaller and smaller park until public outcry over the “bait and switch,” stopped, if not reversed, the park hemorrhage. Thus, it is curious that there hasn’t been more controversy over this intrusion into the park.
